Campground and trails very clean. Park personnel were nice and friendly. Trails have some rocky areas so shoes may be needed. Nice place for a peaceful ride.

I've ridden here many times. There are several sections of trail. On Hwy455 the equestrain camp groud has nice toilets, pavillion, horse tie ups, water, and nice camp sites. The trail section from here north is flat and sandy, here south to dam is shaded sand with some very rocky areas. Nothing is challenging until you get south of the dam to Hwy428 lot. From 428 south to Hwy 380 it very flat with exception of a rock hill which is fun to ride or can be avoided mostly shaded.

There are 4 trails. Most of the trails are sandy though some get rocky. The least challenging of the trails goes north from bluestem grove at Isle dubois. this year, 2007, we haven't been able to use the trails since the floods and they say it will probably be the first of the year 2008 before they are opened. One of my favorite of the trails is North from the green belt(on hgwy. 428 outside of Aubrey)But the first obstacle is crossing a creek on a concrete bridge(before your horse is warmed up). That is something to keep in mind if your horse has a problem with bridges.

Trails are flat, sandy and easy although can easily get boggy if we have had significant rainfall. I love to ride Ray Roberts in the fall as the foliage is pretty and because it is a game refuge and no hunting allowed you see LOTS of Deer. There is also the Lantana Lodge on the Jordan Park end of the trail where you can tie up your horse and go in for a wonderful lunch at a spot with a great overlook of the lake.

Sandy trails, lots of shade. Not difficult or hard on your horse. Not rocky! Can easily spend the weekend. I've been pushing Texas Parks & Wildlife to add electricity to the horse campground. Send them an e-mail, too!
