Great new additions have been made for the riders and campers. Access to ride or overnight camp available from the east side as well as the west side of the park. Campsites are well akintaine and offer corrals with cover for the horses near each camp site. No electricity but does have water for the horses and a toilet. The trails offer quite a bit of variety with open palmetto areas, pine forest and thick oak hammocks along a stream. Very affordable to camp and ride. $5 The new park ranger is a great supporter of the equestrian activities and is constantly looking at ways to improve the park. This a must do....close to town but you feel like you are in the middle of no where

This was a great ride. Trails are well marked and maintained. Lots of shade but some open areas and sand. Equestrian campground had 5 2-horse pens (with covers) and fire-pits! There were also posts set up for high-lines. The bathroom was a compost type but very clean. Water and a hose is available for horses, a large round pen, as well as a covered picnic area that would seat quite a few. My friends and I just came for a day ride, but intend to come back and camp. There is no power at the campsites and I'm not sure about reservations. It cost $5 per truck to enter the park.

Camping is very equestrian friendly. Small paddocks to set up a camp nearby, rinse racks for use also. Trails are mostly deep sand, overused and hard a on horse's legs and tendons. Wildlife included deer, pigs, gopher tortoises and hawks. OK for a few days. Worth the trip.

Nice trails with shady and open areas, lakes to ride around, possibilites for loping/cantering safely, lots of wildlife inc. deer, hogs, coons, gopher tortoises, and swallow tail kites. Rangers were friendly and very helpful. Campsites and paddocks were great, clean, shaded, and safe for horses. Bath houses were clean tho a bit far away, had to unhitch to drive there. No electric or potable water at sites, but water was available for the horses. We had a blast and will be back!

Very disapointing. Rangers are like patrolling police stating rules two to three times per day. Dogs not allowed as of 2008. Rangers are not experienced in Equine emergencies and do not have a list of Vets in the Ranger station. Totally clueless. Caters to regular Rv-ers and act like they do not want Equine campers at their park. Our group has camped at many other places with our horses in several states and have never had a complaint or problem. Can not take firewood from the woods - even fallen broken pieces. "STATE PROPERTY" as told to us by one ranger - but we were offered wood out of the back of her truck...hmmm...wonder where SHE got the wood from? It was on the way to the regular campground and I am sure wouldn't have been offered except that it was kind of an offering after we told her our complaints. Trails are mostly wide open and flat - not for summer riding at all. Once ridden no need to ride them again.
