Had a great time at Mammoth Cave. Hosts were terrific. Trails were great even though they just had a bunch of rain. Trails were well marked for the most part. I would only recommend to number the trails but if you followed the map it was pretty easy to know where you were at. I can't wait to come back for another ride.

I recently stayed at the Mammoth Cave Horse Camp, and while the location near Mammoth Cave National Park is pretty, there were some major issues. Upon arrival, the horse stall latches were just chains through eyelets, and the floors were uneven with big holes. On Saturday, a group of six of us left, but we got separated about 2 or 3 miles in. Another group we met was also lost, and once we realized we were off track, we returned to camp. The trails were overgrown, full of large rocks, and the map provided was really misleading—when we mentioned to Chris that the map wasn't helpful he took it and turned it completely upside to read it. That would have been nice to know beforehand. The shower I used was dark and moldy, and the campsites, though decent, weren’t lit well. In fact, the washout from the rain was really bad down the hillside to the stalls from our site—I actually fell trying to walk to the stalls in the dark. The area is beautiful, but with the lack of trail guidance and poor facility upkeep, I can’t recommend it until they make some serious improvements.

Attended Memorial Day ride. As always Mammoth Cave Horse Camp was 5 Star. Top notch in every aspect. Campground, stalls, facilities, staff and trails. The staff including Chris and Denise Mathews are second to none and the host/owners Kevin and Janet Davis are superior in every way. Love Mammoth Cave Horse Camp and can’t wait till our next ride there in October. Their our go to horse campground. Madge Sliger

From the first day, when the person checking us in said she didn't need to see our coggins test, I began to doubt the place. How many horses have come that haven't had testing? After the first day, we only saw one person twice in the week we were there. No-one in the store, you can buy ice or wood on the honor system, which is fine, but shavings and hay were locked up. The barns and areas around them are dirty and run down. The platform by the manure pit has loose and cracking boards that sag when you step on it. Stalls have deep holes, and uneven flooring, with boards missing around the base of the walls. They advertise a "laundry room" which is a coin op washer and dryer crammed into a small hallway, barely wide enough to hold them, that reeks of wet and mold. No change available, so bring enough. Sites are ok, but the campground is not lit, so plan on a flashlight for night check. The obstacle course is run down, with broken features, and rough ground. Manure pits and grounds are not maintained, so the flies are deplorable. The pallets to place feed on are rotting, filled with mold and bugs. Wheelbarrows are held together with baling twine, forks are broken, no shovels provided... but the threat of a $25 fee if stalls aren't cleaned out. The trail system is not their responsibility, but that too is deplorable. It is rough, with severe washouts, and many downed trees that you have to pick your way around. It is overgrown, and narrow. There is little to no signage, they give you a map, but there's nothing to reference. They are not for novice riders, period. I was riding with experienced riders, and they were struggling too. There are too many nice places to stay and ride at, I wouldn't recommend either the camground nor the trails to anyone.

We had an amazing time at Mammoth Cave with friends! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly and helpful host who made us feel welcome right away. The staff throughout our stay was outstanding, attentive, kind, and always ready to help. The trails were clearly marked, and the map we received at check-in was easy to follow, which made exploring simple and enjoyable. The grounds were very well maintained and clean, adding to the overall relaxing atmosphere. One of the highlights of our trip was the live music on several nights, it was fantastic! On the nights without music, there were still plenty of fun activities to enjoy. The food was great, and the overall atmosphere was warm and inviting. The facilities were impressive as well. The bathrooms were clean and well-kept, and the horse stalls were spacious and well designed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable trail riding experience. We are already planning to return in October and cannot wait to come back!
